(Undated) — First Lady Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey are making
headlines for their meet-up in South Africa this week. A White House
official says the two women shared a meal in Johannesburg on Tuesday
night. Both Mrs. Obama and Winfrey happened to be traveling through
the country at the same time. The First Lady is currently on a
week-long trek through South Africa and Botswana. Winfrey was in
South Africa Tuesday for an event at the Oprah Winfrey Leadership
Academy for Girls.
The TV personality and the First Lady have said that they’ve become
friends over the years. Oprah publicly endorsed Mrs. Obama’s husband,
President Barack Obama when he was campaigning for the presidency as a
U.S. Senator from Illinois.
