Yesterday morning the Academy of  Television Arts and Sciences released the names of  its 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards nominees; and it should come as no surprise that only handful black actors were nominated.Congratulations:

Idris Elba – nominated for two Emmys: ”Outstanding Lead Actor In A Miniseries Or A Movie” for his role as John Luther in the BBC miniseries ‘Luther’ and “Outstanding Guest Actor In A Comedy Series for his role as Lenny in Showtime’s ‘The Big C’.

Laurence Fishburne – nominated for “Outstanding Lead Actor In A Miniseries Or A Movie” for his role as Thurgood Marshall in the HBO miniseries ‘Thurgood’.

Taraji P. Henson – nominated for “Outstanding Lead Actress In A Miniseries Or A Movie” for her role as Tiffany Rubin in Lifetime’s ‘Taken From Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story.’

Andre Braugher – nominated for ”Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series”  for his role as Owen in TNT’s  ‘Men of A Certain Age’.

Alfre Woodard

Last but certainly not least…
